Daily Harvest – Weekly Subscription Service One-Step-Prep Meals
Hello friends!
I hope you’re all doing well! Today I’m excited to bring my first subscription review of 2022! Daily Harvest is a company I’ve been looking forward to reviewing for a long time and I finally decided to take the plunge!
Their ads have been showing up quite a bit for me over the years, but let me tell you a little more about them.
Daily Harvest is a company that specializes in one-step-prep meals, such as smoothies, flatbreads, soups, oat bowls, and a handful more. All of these meals come frozen and require only one step before you’re able to enjoy them. That often means blending, adding milk to soak overnight, baking, or heating up in a pan. There is no chopping or seasoning. If you’re always on the go and looking to speed up your food prep all while getting in as many fruits and veggies into your diet–keep reading!
Daily Harvest has a mission to fuel your body with only the best fruits and veggies, but to also be sustainable and food for our planet. If you’d like to learn more about their story, check out their page!
No Mystery Powders Or Fillers–WHAT?!
For review purposes, I used a Youtube promotion, which got me 14 items (their medium box). To get the most of this subscription, I chose a variety of items to see what this company was all about. I picked a handful of smoothies, oat bowls, a flatbread, dairy-free ice cream, and even some latte pods! I was very impressed at their selection of flavors and also their transparency in what’s included. When I made my first smoothie, I could identify each and every ingredient in the cup. This wasn’t a pre-blended block of flavor. I saw chunks of banana, nuts, veggies–all of it. There are some powders included in some of the smoothies, but they are easily identifiable. No mysteries here.
The same can be said for the oat bowls, harvest bowls, and forager bowls. Each time I opened up the container to prep it, I could very easily identify what was included. That was one of the best parts for me because nothing turns me off from a smoothie more than seeing it only come from a powder that brands call “your daily serving of fruits and veggies”. NO THANKS! I’d prefer to know exactly what I’m fueling my body with.

Who Would Benefit From This?
Okay, okay–I’m mentioning some pretty good things about this service, but is this really for everyone? And to quote my husband: “Can’t you just make these smoothies yourself?” Yes, yes I absolutely can. There isn’t that much magic that goes into these prepped meals. Whether it’s a smoothie, an oat bowl, or even a soup–none of these items take that long to make on your own.
That really isn’t the point with Daily Harvest.
This is absolutely meant for people who don’t have as much time to meal prep or make these meals when they’re constantly having to run out to work or to do other activities. This may also be for those who need a helping hand in getting all their servings of fruits and vegetables. Whatever their situation may be, having Daily Harvest meals handy in their freezer works for them.
For me? Not so much. It was super fun to review because the majority of my choices were delicious, but I work from home full-time and I cook all of my meals. I’m very grateful that I have the time to do that.
Would I like to keep some smoothies on hand? Absolutely. This simply wouldn’t be my only source of healthy snacks and meals.
Money, Money, Money–How Much Does This All Cost?
Like most subscription services, you have multiple tiers. To start off, you can get up to $35 off your first box. If you’re on the fence about trying this service, then that discount may be what you need to give it a go. If you find that you only want a few items, then you can certainly pick the smallest size for your order. Don’t want it every week? Skip the deliveries to a time that works best for you.
Needless to say, there are ways to save some money all while getting a taste of this service.
For a medium box, which includes 14 items, the total comes out to around $99 without a discount. My first discounted box cost around $66. Keep in mind, this is a weekly subscription. In my case, that’s definitely out of my weekly budget. For groceries, I end up spending around $200-$220 per week. If I was to add a medium box of Daily Harvest? Oof, that would be a bit too much for me.
If you are only cooking for yourself or have a bit more flexible budget, then I do encourage you to at least give this a try. Would this be recommended for the long term? Probably not, but it depends on your lifestyle.
Daily Harvest: Was It Worth It?
Overall, I think Daily Harvest has a great message. Their goal is to bring fruits and veggies into your diet in a very convenient way. What more can you ask for? While this service isn’t suitable for my lifestyle, it may be better for yours. Their food is actually really tasty. It doesn’t taste processed or artificially sweetened. Frankly, all I tasted was the fruits and veggies. Truth be told, sometimes it was too much of a good thing. It was a great experience regardless because I feel they really get their message across with their product.
Is it worth the price?
That would be a no for me. I could easily make these bowls and smoothies on my own, so I couldn’t justify spending almost $100 weekly on smoothies I could prep myself. However, my routine is just one out of so many out there.
Overall, I think Daily Harvest is 100% worth the try. Whether you choose to stick with it–well, that’s up to you!
