MugAndPlay: An Etsy Shop With A Love For Vibrant Colors & Nostalgia

Recently I’ve had the pleasure of checking out an Etsy shop that specializes in handmade creations made primarily out of resin! MugAndPlay is a small business operated out of Portland, OR, and it’s run by Nick Foy. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Nick in person a few years back while attending Twitchcon in San Diego, CA. Nick has always expressed his creativity by sharing his artwork on social media as well as live on Twitch. This past February, he decided to put the same support and confidence that he has shown so many others…finally into his own creation. And that’s how the Etsy shop: MugAndPlay came to be.

What Can You Find At MugAndPlay’s Etsy Shop?

This Etsy shop features a variety of items that are currently in stock, such as:

  • Resin Rune Sets (30 USD)
  • Resin Domino Sets (30 USD)
  • Resin Pins (6 USD)
  • Stickers (5 USD)
  • Resin Keycaps (8 USD)

This variety of items is a fantastic start for a new shop such as this. I feel that you can find something fun for anyone in your life. Whether it’s a fun sticker or a keycap for their keyboard. I can tell you that the adorable cat paw keycap fits perfectly on my Esc key and looks super cool when my keyboard lights up. It’s definitely one of my favorite items I’ve been sent to try!

But will that be all? I sure don’t think so. Nick is working on creating new items to add to his shop and will eventually be open to the prospect of doing custom resin work. All in good time, of course. I have to say the earings that Nick sent over for us to check out are WONDERFUL. They’re light, well-made, and make for super fun and unique looks. I certainly hope to see more options for jewelry in the shop.

Does MugAndPlay Ship Internationally?

Not at this time, but Nick is looking into more affordable ways to provide international shipping, so do keep an eye out for his updates. You can follow the Etsy shop directly or keep in touch with Nick via his socials as well.

What About The Price?

The products at MugAndPlay’s Etsy shop are priced very fair. The majority of these items are made out of resin and they are not mass produced. You can definitely see the amount of care put into the quality of each item. They are handmade and you’re guaranteed a unique product. I also did some price comparisons against other Etsy shops and even larger retailers. Example: if you’re looking for cute keycaps (MugAndPlay priced at 8 USD), you can certainly find them cheaper on other sites, but they’re mass-produced and not given the same care. Similarly, you can be paying A BUTT LOAD more at other shops.

If you’re shopping from a small business, these items are being made by the individual (most of the time), there is no warehouse, no cutting corners. You’re paying for the work and materials put into these items. I think all the items sold at this Etsy shop are priced very fairly for how much work is required to make them. Frankly, I would still be okay if the items were priced a little bit higher.

But in general–everything that Nick has at his Etsy shop is priced very fairly. I know I’ll certainly make a purchase after this.

Is The Quality Of The Resin Items Worth Checking Out The Shop?

For sure! The items you’re buying are excellent quality, finished products. They aren’t rough around the edges or puzzling to look at. Because each piece is made by hand, you’re guaranteed to get something that is truly one of a kind. The color combinations that Nick has for his items are indeed something to brag about. Honestly, the pictures don’t do these colors justice. You’d simply have to admire them in person, so if you’re on the fence about something at the shop…I encourage you to check it out.
