5 Reasons Why Grey LOVES Blue Apron

***Not Endorsed***

The last couple of weeks you’ve read about me trying all sorts of recipes from Blue Apron. Now, I’m here to tell you exactly why I kept going and why I think this box is great for cooks of all levels.

When I started trying out subscription boxes I wanted to find one that would suit my lifestyle. I wasn’t going to be making food that was so far off the palette I was used to. The recipes were just as I hoped they would be. Quick, simple, fresh, and delicious. By now you know that is exactly what I’m looking for.

Now, please don’t get me wrong–not all the recipes were winners, but that is to be expected. For this review, the entire subscription box is taken into consideration.

Who Should Try This?

Before we get started on why I love this subscription box, allow me to plant this thought. If you are just starting out on your own, or if you’re recently married and enjoying that newlywed life…you may want to give this a close read. Cooking for others or yourself can sometimes feel like a chore if you don’t know which direction you want to take your meal in. Blue Apron, for me, has served as a great inspiration and fun experience in the kitchen. Even when a meal didn’t turn out completely as pictured, I learned something new and knew where to improve next time.

Also, if you have a busy lifestyle, choosing a subscription box like Blue Apron will save you time and keep you from having to make extra trips to the grocery store, if at all.

Keeping this in mind, let me break it down for you why I love this meal kit!

1. Save Money on Groceries

How many times have you gone to the grocery store and spent more money than you anticipated? Yeah–me too! Since signing up, I’ve been able to save more money each week because I don’t have to buy extra groceries. Since I cook on the weekends, that’s two dinners for two people.

Before starting my Blue Apron subscription, I spent 50-70 USD for one weekend on groceries. When I started receiving Blue Apron boxes, that number went down to a steady 48.85 USD. I didn’t have to worry about fluctuating costs of ingredients. Every box ended up costing the same for different recipes. That consistency has been fantastic, especially if you’re someone that is budgeting their spending. But even with that cost, for essentially 4 dinners, the quality of the ingredients was excellent. The meat was fresh as were the veggies, and even the provided sauces.

I also saved time by not having to make the trip to the grocery store! What could be better than getting those few hours back to do whatever else you may want to do?

2. Flexible Schedule

If you have a lifestyle that keeps you on the road with an unpredictable schedule, this subscription box makes it easy to skip a week–or multiple, if you need. During the weeks you’re skipping deliveries, your account will not be charged, and you will not be penalized, which is amazing. Keep in mind, however, there is a cut off of when you can skip a week. But knowing that it is possible gives you peace of mind. I’m currently skipping weeks of Blue Apron while I test other boxes, but at least I know my preferences are saved. Also, it’s good to know a box won’t arrive at your doorstep if you’re out of town.

Coming back home from a trip only to find food that went bad on your doorstep? No thanks.

3. Build Confidence In Your Cooking

If you’ve never cooked for yourself or for others, then stepping into the kitchen can often be a bit intimidating, maybe even stressful. From my experience, I’m not a professional. I wouldn’t even call myself a great cook, but at least I can follow directions. Blue Apron’s clear and precise directions allowed me to put together delicious meals. Each recipe that I made made me feel better about my cooking. I started to get the hang of what to look for when cooking different types of meat, and which pots and pans I should be using for different food. Think of it this way–practice makes perfect, and each recipe is almost like a trial.

Out of all the recipes I’ve tried, I’ve found a lot of joy in making Blue Apron recipes. This is my individual experience, but hopefully the same can happen to you.

4. Recipe Variety

I love trying new recipes, so when I started choosing recipes off Blue Apron I immediately noticed the variety of meals. One of the neat aspects of this meal kit is the different menus. Currently there are three that you can choose from: Signature, Weight Watcher’s Freestyle, and Signature for 4. I’ve tried two of the three since I only needed 2 servings per meal. However, knowing that there are options for people with different diets is comforting. While some of these recipes look and/or even sound like they are mode advanced–I assure you that even I didn’t mess them up! None of these took me longer than 30 minutes to make and plate. Score for Blue Apron!

5. Blue Apron: Free Codes to Share the Experience With Friends!

Blue Apron does not have a reward program, however it does provide multiple codes that you can share with your friends. That’s exactly how I got hooked on Blue Apron. These codes are for 1 free box that can be scheduled to suit your availability. You can choose recipes as desired for that week. However, I would like to stress that if you only want to sample the free box, then be sure to unsubscribe to avoid a charge to your account.

These codes do not reward the person sending them, but allow you to check out this awesome subscription box.

If you’ve enjoyed this review and are considering checking out this subscription box–let’s chat! I still have some free codes left to send! Perhaps I can help you out!

As always, thank you for reading! If you enjoyed my review, please don’t forget to like and subscribe to stay up to date on my reviews!

Till next time–happy nomming!
