Hello friends!
Traveling during the pandemic certainly isn’t encouraged, but what’s stopping you from sampling the flavors from around the world!
One of the joys I find with snack boxes is that you get a sampling of snacks and candy from places around the world without having to leave your home. Sure it’s not the same as actually going, but doesn’t make the snacks any less tasty.
This month I wanted to travel to Tokyo, so we’re testing out TokyoTreat the monthly subscription box of sweet and savory snacks and candy!
What Plans Are Available?
This subscription box focuses only on snacks from Japan, and this month the theme was Valentine’s Day! Yes, that means pink and red are our recurring colors in the box. For the full unboxing and testing, don’t forget to check out my Youtube video. I had a very special guest help me out!
There are two types of box sizes for TokyoTreat: Premium and Classic.
The classic will cost you 22.50 USD + shipping.
The premium will cost you 31.50 USD + shipping. In total my order came out to 44.50 USD with a discount of 3 USD as it was my first box.
In order to get the full experience of this box, I chose the Premium box which included a wide array of sweet and savory snacks, as well as a beverage.
I have tried multiple subscription boxes and often times I encountered snacks that I have already tried or knew where to find in our international markets here in Chicago. With TokyoTreat, I know that these came from Japan–I have not tried 95% of the treats included in the box. So, if you’re looking for something you can’t get in stores here–this is my confirmation that this box is legit.
But is the price worth it?
I’m not going to overanalyze this for you guys–yes.
This is absolutely worth it. Not only are these snacks from Japan, but they’re also not just sample sizes. You have a significant amount of full-size snacks that I know will last more than a week in my household. The quality of the snacks is great. Nothing is broken or cracked. Everything arrived in the promised condition.
When I’m reviewing these subscription boxes, my review process begins from the moment the box arrives at my home. TokyoTreat did not disappoint in their quality of service. The box came unscuffed and without a single dent. That care in delivery does not go unnoticed.
What’s In The Box? And Can I Get More?
With each box there is a “snack menu” that is included to guide you through everything that is included. That’s extremely helpful, especially if you don’t speak Japanese. 🙂 However, one of the things I’d like to see included with this service is to have an option to order more of the same treats. Luckily, you are able to revisit your previous boxes to get a listing of the treats that were included.
My best recommendation, if to keep the snack menu and make a note of what you really enjoyed. If you want more, you’ll have access to all the names you need.
Final Thoughts?
If you’re looking for a subscription box that includes delicious and unique snacks, I would highly recommend the TokyoTreat box. The snacks are from Japan and certainly not the ones you’d find at your local international grocery store. You are really getting a great treat! Plus, you also get a beverage.
I would also recommend that you spend the extra few dollars on the premium box. If you’re going to sample Japanese snacks, you might as well get the full experience. It’s definitely worth it.
So, if you’re missing the experience of international yums, checking out this subscription box–if you close your eyes even for a moment, you can picture yourself somewhere other than your home.
